Racial Justice Research Fellow
Tamika Davis (She/her/hers) is working as a Racial Justice Fellow at As You Sow. Tamika has over seven years of experience working with urban communities. She is passionate about advancing racial, economic, and environmental equity through an applied research lens. She is devoted to social corporate responsibility and improving the quality of life for individuals and families in marginalized communities.
Tamika has worked on action initiatives to decrease blight and increase beautification efforts in Wayne County, Michigan. She has administered surveys and evaluated data to help advance environmental justice. She has also worked at a civil rights law firm where she tracked environmental justice cases in local and national news outlets. Tamika has also conducted qualitative research where she examined the impact of intergenerational poverty among African American women. Tamika has a keen eye for detail with foundational knowledge of social and racial justice frameworks.
Tamika is eager to contribute to the Racial Justice team at As You Sow. She understands the complexity of environmental justice and she envisions a world where People of Color can live holistically healthy lives free from systemic racism.
Tamika earned a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She held a concentration in policy, leadership, and community development. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in African American Studies from Wayne State University.
