Brian Arundel
Development Manager and Grant Writer
Brian works with the Senior Vice President of Advancement to write grant proposals and reports across five program areas with the goal of maintaining and expanding As You Sow’s primary revenue source. He joined As You Sow in 2024.
In 2014, after more than a decade working in the publishing industry as a writer and editor, Brian transitioned to nonprofit philanthropy to dedicate himself to advancing social equity and environmental justice.
A native of Washington, DC, Brian currently lives outside Portland, Maine, with his wife (also a grants manager) and their animals. His writing has appeared in Salon, The Satirist, Mid-American Review, and Buddhadharma as well as the anthologies The Practice of Creative Writing, The Best of Brevity, and Contemporary Creative Nonfiction, among other publications. He enjoys writing plays, running trails, practicing qigong, and playing guitar, though not all at the same time.
