WM Inc to Identify Gaps in Recycling Infrastructure to Increase Plastics Recycling

Houston, Texas-based waste and recycling giant, Waste Management, Inc. (WM) has committed to publishing a report that could help ease the recycling crisis that has developed in parts of the United States.

The report, which will be the result of an in-depth engagement by As You Sow and Trillium Asset Management, is to identify gaps in recycling infrastructure and discuss how many of WM’s processing facilities have been upgraded, which can boost material yield.

As You Sow, a non-profit shareholder advocacy group aiming to promote environmental and social corporate responsibility explained that China’s 2018 ban on plastic waste imports exposed the fragility of parts of the US recycling collection and processing system.
