The Welcome Intensive provides an introduction to the concepts of values-based investing in an expert-led, small group setting. This program is intended for asset owners new to values-based investing and offers a unique opportunity to dive into the Confluence community with a cohort of new peers and allies. Facilitators will lead an afternoon discussion about fiduciary duty, engaging investment advisors and other topics critical to a new investor. The Welcome Intensive will conclude with a special dinner hosted by the facilitators and Confluence staff.

Tales from the Fire: Breaking Down the Barriers to Active Ownership

Shareholder engagement is a powerful, yet underutilized, tool for Investors to drive change through public markets. In this session, participants will hear from foundations and their advisors about their active ownership journeys—and why it became an imperative. Speakers will draw from themes identified in Confluence’s recent project that explored barriers members faced to engaging as active owners. Investors will describe the barriers they faced in their institutions, real and perceived, and how they overcame them with advisor guidance and support to quickly progress from learning who was voting their proxies and how to signing and co-sponsoring resolutions.
